During my stay in the Netherlands, I had the opportunity to travel outside the Netherlands as in Prague (a city I recommend), but also inside the country.

Ameland: A place even colder and rainier than Groningen, yes it is possible!

The first trip I had the opportunity to make to the Netherlands was to Ameland with the ESN.

This 3-day stay led Julie, Alexandre and I (2 students from the iut who left with me in DUETI) to an island in the north of the Netherlands.

Apart from the weather, this place was beautiful, because it was very natural. It was possible for us to cycle through the fields and sand dunes, to walk on the beaches... The city center was also very charming and has a few bars with tables where you can light a fire in the middle. Great for warming up!

Finally, this trip was above all an opportunity to meet our first Erasmus friends with whom we stayed very close.

Amsterdam :

I have had the opportunity to visit Amsterdam twice as I write this article. I had never had the chance to go there before.

I really appreciate this city even if, in hindsight, I find it good and bad sides.

Indeed Amsterdam is a splendid, very active city, where it is possible to have a good time while enjoying the charms of the Netherlands and its canals

However, my two experiences were not at all in the same context (once within a family, the second time with friends). So I noticed a black spot that is quite surprising.

Part of the city is extremely touristic or even too touristic. This tourism is not necessarily very breast-oriented as it could be elsewhere, since most young people come here to take advantage of the authorization to consume cannabis.

But I'll probably go back there to get a last idea.

The Hague:

This trip was made with a group of French people we had met in the Netherlands.

The trip to the Hague was really good. During a weekend I was able to discover a spectacular city combining business city and the atypical charm of the Netherlands. This can be seen magnificently in the city's architecture.

I was able to discover the city's beaches and dyke as well as the historical monuments.

To conclude, travelling is something that is part of the Erasmus experience as in the country of your exchange as well as in neighboring countries. The first semester has allowed me to appreciate the city and the second semester will mark the beginning of many of the trips I have in mind, starting with the countries of the North. In exactly one month's time, I'm going on a trip to Denmark, Sweden and Norway.
