One of the most beautiful things about the Erasmus experience is definitely to meet other people. It is only when you live abroad and meet people that you realize that the world does not simply turn around you. Standards and mentalities are so different from one region of the world to another.
I would never stop saying it, but Groningen is the perfect city to meet people from all over the world. And it is by talking with them, sharing moments and meals that you learn to discover the cultures of others, their countries, or the tastes and flavors of traditional dishes.
During my experience I was able to meet and share many moments with students from Australia, South Korea, Indonesia, Israel, Russia, El Salvador, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Poland, Slovenia, India, Lebanon, Turkey, Italy, Spain, Germany, the United Kingdom and of course the Netherlands. I honored them in one of my articles "The Wall of meetings and nationalities".
My most memorable experiences in discovering new cultures are clearly the international dinners.
The first international dinners I made were first of all with my kitchen mates. Indeed, in the residence I occupied in the first semester, I shared my kitchen and my daily life with 6 other members. This first circle of friends allowed me to discover new cultures and thanks to them, I share my first international meals. Indeed we had set this ritual once a month. In fact, everyone had to cook for the others. For my part, I am very proud to have made them discover the raclette.
The international dinners then continued with my friends from school or my music group. I was able to appreciate flavors from South Korea, Indonesia, China and Australia.
Through flavors, everyone learns to know the culture of others, everyone becomes an ambassador of their country.
To conclude, every moment that I shared with other people were magical in Groningen. Almost every article reports on his encounters because at the end the more things you do, more people you meet. So don't deprive yourself. In this article I wanted to mention his encounters through international dinners because they allow you to instantly immerse yourself in the culture of the other.
