One of the specific aspects of the DUETI as you know is to study 100% in English. Even if it sounds scary, is it that hard? I will try here to give you my feedback on this.
At first be aware that, when I went to Groningen, I was far from being the greatest in English. English has been a challenge for a significant part of my school years. However, one thing is for sure, the best way to improve your English is to study abroad. It is surely true. This experience is not without difficulties, but you have to face difficulties to finally improve.
For my part, my beginnings at Hanze University were sometimes difficult, especially during my first group projects. First of all because working with foreign students is very different in terms of culture (to know more about group project with international students, please refer to the article in question). But above all because in a group you have to know how to express your ideas and if you don't have the English vocabulary, it makes it more difficult. So this is one of the first difficulties you will probably face.
However, as the classes progress, it will become easier, first of all because English will start to become part of your daily life (don't forget that you speak English outside too). Then, because the very interactive courses will allow you to integrate the vocabulary, which will enable you to be more effective and to take part in the decision process.
Writing is also important in Hanze because you will have many reports to write. Just like oral, at the beginning, you will probably be a little bit lost, but don't hesitate to use a dictionary (Word Reference) and also to think in English. But It will come over time, I'm sure.
Orals and exams will also have to be taken in English, but at the end, over time, oral exams will become a child's play.
To conclude, studying 100% in English is a great opportunity to improve yourself in a dazzling way. Although this will probably be difficult for you at first, but it will finally become easier. That's living abroad. It means making progress day after day.
